ICF SPRINT WORLD CUP II – POZNAN 2024
Posted at 07.06.2024
Sprint World Cups have now a pattern that is hard to ignore: one big and highly competitive followed by a small and less exciting. Maybe it's time for ICF to seriously consider the model that is being put in place for some years now.
Other patterns are more popular with sprint canoeing fans, like the current “fight” between Lisa Carrington and Aimee Fisher in the K1 W 500. For the second time in a row it was Aimee to claim victory (Bronze for Anna Pulawska), but the most important battle is yet to come in Paris. It must be on record that Lisa also raced the K2 W 500 (Gold with Alicia Hoskins) and the K4 500 (Silver with Alicia Hoskin, Olivia Brett and Tara Vaughan).
Fernando Pimenta is truly one of a kind. Of the three events he raced in Poznan, he won three. Gold in the K1 M 1000 (Martin Nathel Bronze), K1 M 500 and K1 M 5K. At 34 he still has the same desire to win that he was showing when he won his first individual World Cup Gold in 2011.
A special mention to Dorota Borowska. We hope the Silver in Poznan give her the momentum for a great season.
