ICF CANOE SPRINT WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP – SAMARKAND 2024

Popularly known as the Non-Olympic Events World Championship, the competition in Smarkand, Uzbekistan, was exactly that, an opportunity for those missing the Olympics to finish the season in August like usual. And it was even more important for the AIN athletes, like the results show, as most of them were not racing internationally for more than two years.
 The format is new and it leaves some room for testing new events like the K4 Mix and consolidate others like the K2. But in the end, the stars are the K1 winners. Great victory for Messias Baptista and Liudmyla Kuklinovska in the K1 200. Baptista would leave Uzbekistan with 2 Gold (K2 with Teresa Portela) and a Bronze in the Mix K4.
 Mads Pedersen and Fernando Pimenta had an very antecipated face to face. Again, like last season in Duisburg, Mads dominated the race. Soon we'll have another duel in the Marathon short course in Croatia and then it will be Pimenta defending the title.
