PARALYMPIC GAMES – PARIS 2024

Posted at 05.09.2024

The numbers leave us very proud: 15 medalists – seven gold, seven silver and one bronze; wins in all 3 kayak Men categories and 2/3 of kayak Women.

Here are the names.

KL1 Men 🥇 Peter Kiss 🥈 Luis Carlos Cardoso da Silva

A repetition of Tokyo 2020 podium and a very similar race. As soon as Peter Kiss reaches cruise speed it's almost impossible even for a super athlete like Luis Carlos Cardoso da Silva, 4th and Silver in previous Games.

KL2 Men 🥇 Curtis McGrath 🥈 Dave Phillipson 🥉 Mykola Syniuk

Curtis McGrath is a legend of Paracanoe. Gold medalist in three consecutive Games (Rio de Janeiro, Tokyo and Paris) he's also unbeaten in the biggest competition of the season since Duisburg 2016. Dave Phillipson, Silver, and Mykola Syniuk, Bronze, completed a perfect Jantex podium.

KL3 Men 🥇 Brahim Guendouz 🥈 Dylan Littlehales

One of the biggest surprises of the Games was Brahim Guendouz. The algerian was already the first paracanoe athlete world cup and world championship medalist, and now he is the first Paralympic Champion. For some years Dylan Littlehales knocked on medal doors but that time is over and now he is cementing his position on the top of his category with consecutive podiums since 2022.

VL3 Women 🥈Hope Gordon

Paris was Hope Gordon's debut in Summer Paralympic Games. The Silver medal is a great start, but we're sure she's coming for more.

KL1 Women 🥇 Katherinne Wollermann 🥈 Maryna Mazhula

Katherinne Wollermann's smile is already golden, but now she has the Paralympic Gold Medal to match it. In Paris, she reached the sky after the 4th in Rio and Bronze in Tokyo. Second place for Maryna Mazhula. The five times world champion got her second Paralympic Silver Medal.

KL3 Women 🥇 Laura Sugar 🥈 Nelia Barbosa

When in 2019 Laura Sugar finished second at the World Championship in Szeged that was the last time she lost a race in the most important competition of the season. Like in Tokyo she was followed by Nelia Barbosa. The french put on a thrilling performance for her audience for a very much deserved Silver Medal.

VL2 Men 🥇 Fernando Rufino 🥈 Igor Tofalini

The brazilian duo of Fernando Rufino and Igor Tofalini have been dominating the VL2 since 2022. In Paris, they made another demonstration of their power.

VL3 Men 🥇 Vladyslav Yepifanov

After two consecutive golds in World Championships, Valdyslav Yepifanov finally reaches the highest position of the podium in Paralympic Games. The icing on the cake for Ukraine, one of the strongests nations of Paracanoe.
