The ultimate step for Lisa Carrington

When in London 2012 Lisa Carrington won her first Gold, we were far from imagining that she would become the most successfull sprint kayaker of all time. She didn't look like the traditional kayaker and she was not from Germany or Hungary – typically the most dominante nations. Also, she finished 7th in the K2 W 500, what could indicate that she would just be a 200 metres sprinter. But, nine olympic medals later (eight gold), here we are to contemplate her achieving perfection.

Her Olympic medal record is something worth to rememeber: Gold in 2012; Gold and Bronze in 2016; Gold, Gold, Gold in 2021; Gold, Gold, Gold in 2024.

In Paris, it all started with the K4, precisely that one gold that has been reserved for Germany and Hungary since 1988 and that one gold that eluded her in Tokyo after three golden performances. Lisa Carrington, Alicia Hoskin, Olivia Brett and Tara Vaughan – two new aditions to the team since 2022 – nailed it. A powerfull team effort to claim the K4 Olympic title for New Zeland, followed by Germany of Jule Hake and Hungary of Alida Dóra Gazsó in her olympic debut. The same nations in the K2 W 500: Gold for Lisa Carrington and Alicia Hoskin, Silver for Alida Dóra Gazsó and Bronze for Jule Hake.

Finally, one of the most antecipated battles of the Games, the K1 W 500. Lisa lost to Aimee Fisher in Szeged and Poznan's World Cups and in Paris she showed what she had learned from those races. She waited for the right moment to move and jump to the lead, finishing with a rare celebration only reserved for the most important moments.

It's time to highlight Emma Jorgensen's 4th olympic medal. In a very tough week, after the premature elimination of the K2 in the quarter-finals, she pulled herself together and managed to reach the medal, as always. The 28 year old may still have enough time to look for the missing metal on her record after the Silver in Rio de Janeiro, double Bronze in Tokyo and Bronze in Paris.

A canoe silver medal for Jantex history

Carlo Tacchini's Silver medal in Paris is one of those moments that make us feel like we acchieved the standard for high level athletes. It's the first ever medal for a Jantex canoe paddle. It's also the first Olympic medal for Tacchini in his second olympic experience. The italian has been solidly rebuilding his carreer in the C2 M 500 and, as bonus, he managed a top-5 in the individual race.

Some final words for Fernando Pimenta and Aimee Fisher. We know that Paris was not what you antecipated, but we would like to express our admiration for you and thank you for all the joyful moments you have given us so far.
