ECA MARATHON EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP – POZNAN 2024

Occasionally, there's a marathon competition in a sprint venue. This time it was Poznan, one of the most famous venues in the canoeing world.

The man of the moment is, with no doubt, Mads Pedersen. The danish makes it look easy and smooth no matter the short or the long race (James Russell Bronze on both). Total dominance at the Europeans. For sure, the competition is not sleeping and we'll have a great show in Croatia for the Worlds.

A very pleasant suprise in the K2 Women: the spanish duo Irati Osa/Arantza Toledo beat the hungarian K2s to become the reigning European Champions. On men's side, Soren Marretti and Philip Knudsen finally grabbed the gold medal their potential already predicted. Knudsen left Poznan also with his U23 european title renewed.

It's noticeable the young talent coming from Portugal. Maria Gomes won the Junior Women short and the long races. João Sousa and Francisco Baptista the K2 Junior Men. Let's hope they have room to grow.
